This camp is intended to be an opportunity for girls that have never played as well as those with some experience to come learn from Walton's best fastpitch players. Coach Adams will have many of his returning varsity players there to show you how much fun this game can be. If you like having fun, this is the place for you. You will need to bring your own glove. If you have cleats and a bat, bring those with you as well. Make sure you have tennis shoes as well, because if it rains, we will move our fun indoors. 5th Graders--THREE Opportunities RAIDER FUN CAMP (July 21-23) Check out the information from above. You will also be a part of this exciting experience. WALTON PITCHER/CATCHER CLINIC (June 8) This clinic is intended to make our best pitchers better, but more importantly, we want any player who has EVER considered playing one of these important positions to give it a try. It is a one day clinic that allows you to see if either position is one worth exploring. JR. RAIDER PRETRYOUT CLINIC & TRYOUTS (June 9-10 & June 11) As you enter the 5th grade, you are finally able to join our Jr. Raider feeder program. Each year we strive to involve enough girls to form two teams so that more of you can enjoy the excitement that is fastpitch softball. Our Pretryout Clinic is a chance for girls to come work with the Jr. Raider and High School Coaches prior to the official tryouts on June 11. If you have a conflict with the tryout date, please contact Coach Adams in advance to work out other arrangements. 6th-8th Graders--THREE Opportunities WALTON SUMMER CHALLENGE CAMP (June 2-4) For serveral years, we have run a camp with Champions instructors out of Terrell Mill Park. This year we are moving things to Walton and focusing more on building our team unit. This camp is open to all 6th-12th graders and will provide a tiered approach to instruction that allows our younger players to leanr from the Champions instructors as well as more experienced peers. The team building that will result from this camp is irreplaceable so please don't miss out. WALTON PITCHER/CATCHER CLINIC (June 8) Please see the information above. Please recognize how important it is for our program to have more pitchers and catchers. Ideally we have AT LEAST one pitcher and one catcher from every grade level in our program. If you have ANY interest in either position, maximize this opportunity to give it a try. JR. RAIDER PRETRYOUT CLINIC & TRYOUTS (June 9-10 & June 11) Again, see the above information. Regardless of your skill level or years of experience, this clinic should help you prepare for the tryouts. You will be working with Coach Adams, some of his high school coaches, and the Jr. Raider coaches to improve your skills. 9th-12th Graders--SIX or SEVEN Opportunities WALTON SUMMER CHALLENGE CAMP (June 2-4) Please take a look at the information provided above. Realize that your involvement in this camp is highly encouraged regardless of what else you have going on this summer. We anticipate this being a very important part of our team building experience for the summer. WALTON PITCHER/CATCHER CLINIC (June 8) Please see the information above. If you have ever played either position or have considered giving either one a try, NOW is the time to test your skills and see what you can offer this program. We do not have enough depth at these two critical positions so we are counting on you to give it a try if you have the skills to help our program. CHEROKEE SUMMER CLASSIC TOURNAMENT (June 16-18) This will be our 4th year involved in this tournament. We will play in two games each day. Typically, each girl will play 2 of the 3 days for a total of four games. These games are in a laid back setting and allow each of our girls to start getting a feel for what our team will look like in the fall. MONDAY NIGHT LEAGUE (every Monday night except June 29) Like the Cherokee Tournament, this is a chance for our girls to play together as a team before the important fall games arrive. This year, we will help Creekview host this tournament. We will be counting on everyone in our program being involved. Game action will go to our returning players first and we hope to fill in the remaining openings with players new to our high school teams. VARSITY TEAM CAMP (July 7-9) While this is titled a Varsity camp, attendance does not mean that you have been on varsity in the past or will be on varsity this season. This camp is an invitation only experience that allows us to really start focusing on what it will take for us to be at our best when the season starts in August. If you get invited, you should do all you can to attend this important event. PRE-TRYOUT WEEK (July 28-31) Nothing is mandatory until tryouts start. However, we want to make sure everyone has a chance to be at their best when official evaluations begin. We will start going over bunt coverages, first and third scenarios, offensive approach, etc. Plan to be here if at all possible. OFFICIAL TRYOUTS (August 1 and 3) Now you MUST be here. The only exception will be for those that communicate with Coach Adams well in advance and have very good reason. We will make our decisions about JV and Varsity rosters at the end of tryouts.
